In the 1950s, this acre was the Harbert Motel, a drive-in stop with small bungalows and a carport for each guest. City dwellers have escaped to this corner of Michigan for nearly a century, for the same reasons people come today: the beaches, the dunes and the slower pace.
The motel faded and the land sat empty for decades. In the late 1990s, a new owner built the six tiny cabins you see today, on the footprint of that old idea.
We bought the property in 2017 and have been part of the Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce ever since. We are working toward making it our full-time home. We love hearing longtime locals tell us what this place used to be. Our goal is to keep that old roadside spirit alive: simple cabins, good company and summer nights outside.
Welcome. I hope you'll add your own stories to this place.
